As you know, Remembrance Day took on an additional significance this year as it marked the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War.

Our children have been involved in number of activities to mark the occasion. Junior pupils watched the live national school assembly, broadcast from the Tower of London on Monday afternoon; and all classes talked about the significance of why people choose to wear poppies at this time of year.

The children have displayed their own beautiful poppies at the school entrance, while children at Breakfast Club ‘constructed’ their own trenches and enjoyed a WW1 soldier’s breakfast in trays they had made themselves.
