Active Healthy Schools Award

Both schools have just been awarded the ‘Active Healthy Schools Award’ – this is a higher level award, designed for schools who have gained the ordinary Healthy Schools Award over the past few years. I believe that we are only the second school in North Somerset to obtain the award.

They were delighted with the range of health promoting activities we offer. Of all the aspects they look at, they were most impressed with:

– Our links with the local community – the schools are seen as being at the heart of the community. Learning College courses were praised – including those that involve going out into the village.

– The large range of physical activity opportunities that we offer the children.

– Opportunities for children to participate in the life of the school and take on responsibilities.

– All the work being done to boost self-esteem and confidence and to support children who are struggling emotionally and socially.

These were all seen as particular strengths.

So, thank you and well done to everyone who has played a part in any way in providing these opportunities to our children and helping us achieve this award. Great job – thank you!!

We will be receiving a plaque in the near future.
