Governor Observation – High Attaining Maths

November 26th: Governors Roger Vaughan and Chris Jackson visited the school to observe a maths class for Year 6 high attainers, taught by Mr Okeden. We were immensely impressed by an inspirational lesson, which started with children thinking of different ways of expressing the concepts of bigger and smaller, and ended with them able to look at a graph and say whether or not there was a correlation, how strong it was, and whether it was positive or negative. The data provided were ice cream sales in Weston over several years, and sales of a One Direction single over several weeks! It was an absolute pleasure to see children being educated in the truest sense, but with much good humour, and great care to make sure all of them were involved and had proper understanding.
